This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use the Cityscribe iOS and iPadOS application (the “App”), our website at cityscribe.com, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).

• We collect information you provide (like your account details, Lists, and photos) and information generated when you use the Services (like device and usage data).You control whether your Lists are Public or Private.
• Private Lists are intended to be visible only to you in the App.
• We may use third-party providers to help power the Services (for example, to display place information or provide analytics and crash reporting).
• You can request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information as described below.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
Depending on how you use the Services, you may provide:
• Account information: such as username, email address, and authentication details.
• Profile information: such as display name, profile photo, and optional bio.
• User Content: Lists you create, list titles/descriptions, places you save, notes you add, and photos you upload.
• Reports and communications: information you submit when you report content (e.g., a photo or List) or contact support.
2.2 Information we collect automatically
When you use the Services, we may collect:
• Device and technical data: device type, operating system version, app version, language settings, device identifiers (as permitted by your device and applicable law), and similar technical information.
• Usage data: interactions with the App (e.g., screens viewed, features used), timestamps, referring/exit pages (for the website), and performance diagnostics.
• Log data: System activity logs.
2.3 Location information
Cityscribe is built around places. Some features may use location to improve results.
• Precise location (GPS): Only if you grant permission in iOS/iPadOS. You can change this in your device settings.
• Approximate location: We may infer approximate location from IP address or device settings to localize content (where permitted).
If you do not grant location access, you can still use Cityscribe, but some features (like nearby results) may be less accurate.
2.4 Information from third parties
We may receive information from:
• Place data providers (e.g., Foursquare, Apple, Tripadvisor) to display place information in the App.
• Authentication providers (if you choose a third-party sign-in method), which may provide basic account identifiers.
Note: Place information (like a venue’s name, category, address, and photos) may originate from third parties and can change over time.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
• Provide the Services (create accounts, enable following, save places to Lists, display Lists)
• Honor your settings (including Public/Private List visibility)
• Moderate content and enforce rules (review reports, investigate abuse, prevent fraud)
• Improve and maintain the Services (debugging, analytics, testing, performance monitoring)
• Communicate with you (support responses, service notices, policy updates)

4.1 Public vs Private Lists
• Private Lists: intended to be visible only to you.
• Public Lists: may be visible to other users (including followers) and may appear in the Services.
Even when content is set to private, Cityscribe still stores and processes it to operate the Services (for example, syncing across your devices).
4.2 Followers and social features
If you follow other users, or they follow you, we may show:
• Your profile information (like username, display name, profile image)
• Your public Lists and associated content

No system can guarantee complete privacy. Other users may take screenshots or share content outside the App.
5. How we disclose information
We may disclose information:

We use vendors that help us operate the Services (for example, hosting, storage, analytics, crash reporting, customer support). These vendors process information on our behalf under contractual obligations.
5.2 To comply with law

Cityscribe may display place information supplied by third parties (including Foursquare, Apple, and Tripadvisor) and may link to third-party content or websites.Third parties have their own privacy practices.
This Privacy Policy does not cover how third parties collect or use information on their own services.
7. Your choices and controls
7.1 Privacy settings
You can control the visibility of your Lists (Public/Private) in the App.
7.2 Location permissions
You can enable/disable location permissions in iOS/iPadOS Settings.
7.3 Marketing communications
If we send promotional emails (if any), you can opt out via the unsubscribe link. Service messages (like security or policy notices) may still be sent when necessary.
7.4 Account access and deletion
You may request to access, correct, or delete your account information.
If you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify your personal information, subject to:
• information we must retain for legal obligations
• backups retained for a limited period
• information needed to prevent fraud or enforce our agreements
For account deletion, login to the either the iOS or iPadOS app and navigate to the "Settings" page. From there you can request a full account deletion.

We keep personal information only as long as needed to:
• provide the Services
• comply with legal obligations
• resolve disputes
• enforce agreements
Retention periods vary based on the type of information and why we need it.9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Cityscribe may process and store information in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. These countries may have data protection laws different from your jurisdiction.

• opt out of certain “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising (if applicable)

Sale of personal information: Cityscribe does not sell personal information for money. If we engage in activities that qualify as “sharing” under CPRA for cross-context behavioral advertising, we will provide appropriate controls.

The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date and may provide additional notice if changes are material. Continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the updated Policy.
